The Emergency Medical Division of Pender EMS & Fire, Inc. is now seeking full-time certified EMTs & AEMTs!

REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN INTERVIEW

To be considered for an interview, candidates who meet the minimum requirements must complete the following: 

 

  1. Submit an employment application online by 5:00pm on April 25, 2025. Qualified applicants will receive an email invitation from SignUp Genius to move forward to Step 2. Please monitor your inbox closely and remember to check your spam and/or junk folders.

  2. Successfully complete our internal Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)

  3. Complete a pre-employment aptitude test. (This test will be administered on the same day as the CPAT.)

EMS CANDIDATE PHYSICAL ABILITY TEST (CPAT) & APTITUDE TEST

The EMT Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) is designed to assess the candidate’s ability to perform the basic functions of the job. To learn more about what the candidate physical agility test consists of, please view the training video below. Candidates must complete the CPAT within 10 minutes.

For safety reasons, long pants and closed-toed shoes must be worn to participate in the agility test. On the day of the test, candidates must complete a liability release form and a copy of their driver’s license when reporting for the agility test prior to participating.

 

Following successful completion of the CPAT, recruits will be required to take an aptitude test. The test will be administered on the same day of the CPAT. The aptitude test consists of SAT style questions, that evaluate skills in reading comprehension, problem-solving, and spelling/grammar

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Candidates will be notified if they are selected for an interview after the final CPAT session ends. Notifications will be made via email so please monitor your inbox closely and be sure to check your spam folder.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SCREENINGS

Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following tests and screenings:  

  • Criminal Background Investigation  

  • Driving Record Check 

  • Pre-employment Drug Screen 

ABOUT NEW HIRE ORIENTATION

Orientation will be held during business hours Monday through Friday for approximately four (4) weeks. New hires will receive important materials during orientation and are encouraged to ask questions about the organization and your employment. The tentative start date for the next new hire orientation is June 2, 2025.

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!

Twelve (12) hour employees work a Pitman Schedule. The Pitman Schedule utilizes two (2) day shift groups and two (2) night shift groups to provide 24/7 coverage. Employees are assigned to a set shift group where they work two (2) consecutive shifts, followed by two (2) shifts off duty, works three (3) consecutive shifts, followed by two (2) shifts off duty, works two (2) consecutive shifts, followed by three (3) shifts off duty.
