ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under direct supervision of the Training Division Captain, the Field Training Officer provides field training to employees and teaches in the classroom. The Field Training Officer will demonstrate the ability to share his/her extensive experience and knowledge in a non-intimidating manner in order to encourage employees in achieving the high standards necessary. The Field Training Officer understands the constant evolution of EMS professionals while remaining current in the industry trends and improved methods of accomplishing quality patient care. The Field Training Officer will serve as a mentor, role model, and educational resource to all employees. QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: • Must possess High school diploma or GED • Be a released Paramedic with Pender EMS & Fire, Inc. or ability to obtain release within ninety (90) days. • Two or more years of experience as a field Paramedic • Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. • Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. • Certified Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) instructor or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. • Ability to teach and educate both in the field and classroom on various topics. • Knowledge of NCEMS protocols, Pender EMS & Fire, Inc. policies, procedures, and operations. DESIRED: • Associate degree or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment • Ability to work extended hours for training and teaching. • Ability to pass NCOEMS approved methodology course • Knowledge of principles and practices providing excellent customer service • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite • Ability to set up, calibrate, and operate standard classroom equipment • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to gather, analyze and report on pertinent data Pender EMS and Fire Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
